High Priced Quarterbacks

Drew Brees-New Orleans Saints (8,900): In the first week of the season, the Saints struggled mightily on the road in Arizona. Thy’ll hope that a return home to the dome also leads to a return to form for their offense this week against the Bucs. Brees actually has 17.5 FanDuel points throwing for 355 yards and a touchdown which is impressive when you consider the opponent, the fact that he was on the road, and how out of sync he looked.  This week, he’s in a much more favorable matchup against the Bucs’ secondary who was shredded by Marcus Mariota last week. If Mariota can hang those numbers on Tampa’s defense, they could be in real trouble trying to contain Drew Brees at home in a game he needs to win.

Tony Romo-Dallas Cowboys (8,500): Romo lost his main weapon Dez Bryant but still led the Cowboys on two drives to win the game against the Giants and finished with 24.1 FanDuel points (fourth most in the NFL) on 356 yards and three touchdowns.  As he and the Cowboys head to Philadelphia this week, I expect a high-scoring game with both QB’s airing it out. He sat out practice Wednesday as has become his routine, but I expect him to return to a full workload on Thursday and be ready to face a suspect Eagles secondary in week 2. He’s a good matchup this week for the second week in a row

Carson Palmer-Arizona Cardinals (7,800): Even after a monster week 1, Palmer is still outside the top 12 QB’s in FanDuel pricing for week 2. He put up 25.7 FanDuel points against the Saints finishing with 307 yards and three scores in the Cardinals week 1 win.  This week, Palmer and Arizona travel to Chicago, and I still think he’s dramatically under-rated as not a top-10 price point.  In his last seven games he has been able to finish, Palmer has thrown for multiple touchdowns in coach Bruce Arians pass-heavy attack, and I think there’s a good chance he extends that streak to eight on Sunday.  Palmer may have to throw the ball even more often this week since starting RB Andre Ellington is likely to miss the week. Last week, the Bears defense struggled with Aaron Rodgers, and I think Palmer makes a great play for the second week in a row as he and the Cardinals visit Chicago.

Last Week: Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo, Ryan Tannehill
