The Oakland Raiders are playing against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon at O.co Coliseum, with the hopes of avoiding another 0-2 start. The day is starting off with good news for Oakland, with the information that starting quarterback Derek Carr will be active, according to the team’s official Twitter account.

Carr was forced to leave the Raiders’ Week 1 game in the second quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals with a finger injury. Carr did not return to the game, leaving the Raiders to play with Matt McGloin. Predictably, Oakland went on to lose the game 33-13 despite having an improved team.

Carr enjoyed a solid rookie campaign after being drafted in the second round out of Fresno State University. Carr threw for more than 3,000 yards and 21 touchdowns, showcasing his ability to lead this franchise out of the darkness. Then, this offseason, general manager Reggie McKenzie went out and signed center Rodney Hudson, receiver Michael Crabtree, inside linebacker Curtis Lofton and defensive tackle Dan Williams. McKenzie also used his first-round draft pick on Amari Cooper, giving Carr another weapon to use.

Oakland is going against a tough defense in Baltimore. The Ravens are going to be without outside linebacker Terrell Suggs the rest of the year with an Achilles injury, but they still have Elvis Dumervil, Brandon Williams. C.J. Mosley and Daryl Smith in the front seven.
