The Eagles are not having a great start to their season, and Donnie Jones is feeling the pain of that in a physical way.

When the Eagles put together another masterclass roster this offseason, there was hype all over the NFL for how well Chip Kelly was finally going to coach his team to the promised land. that has resulted in utter heartbreak and failure thus far this season and that’s all being compounded in the disastrous game against the Cowboys.

On one of the most embarrassing plays of the game, the Cowboys blocked a punt and proceeded to kill punter Donnie Jones. It was a perfect metaphor for the Eagles season thus far and it was enjoyable for everyone who hates the Eagles — which is everyone.

Just watch, as Donnie Jones took a nasty block on the Cowboys blocked punt return for a touchdown.

There was initially a flag for a helmet to helmet hit but that was picked up and the touchdown counted. It was a knee-jerk flag, since anytime a punter gets blown up like this it’s going to look nastier than it is. The hit, upon endlessly looped replays, is clearly not illegal and it was as clean a block as you could have hoped for in that situation.

Of course Eagles fans aren’t happy about it, but they have plenty of other things to be upset about outside of this.

As for the Cowboys, Dez Bryant’s reaction on Twitter pretty much summed things up perfectly:
