High Priced Running Backs

Jamaal Charles (7,400): If you’re going to spend big on a running back, the top name I’d target is Jamaal Charles who will have had 11 days to dwell on his ugly game-ending fumble last Thursday against the Broncos.  Before he coughed it up at the worst possible moment, Charles had actually had a strong game running for 125 yards and a touchdown along with his pair of lost fumbles. He’ll look to take his anger and frustration out on the Packers this week on Monday Night Football, and I expect Andy Reid to get him the ball early and often in an attempt to keep Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense on the sidelines. Charles is the only running back who has posted over 20 DraftKings points in each of the first two weeks.

LeSean McCoy (6,100): McCoy has had a pair of productive weeks even though he has battled hamstring issues and been held out of the end zone.  In week 1, he had 20 touches and finished with 87 total yards against the Colts, and then he improved that by taking 18 touches for 116 yards against the Patriots.  Despite not getting into the end zone he has produced over 11 DraftKings points in each contest.  While Karlos Williams vulturing his touchdowns is reason for concern, there is definitely plenty of upside to McCoy as well.  With all the injuries and question marks high in the RB salary structure, McCoy’s heavy involvement in the Bills offense both catching and running the ball makes him an attractive option.

Latavius Murray (5,800): The Raiders got a nice win against Baltimore at home, but much of the work had to be done through the air leaving Murray just 15 carries.  He did produce 65 yards and a touchdown on those carries while adding 22 yards on three catches.  As the Raiders hit the road for the first time this season, they head to Cleveland where the Browns have let Chris Ivory and Dexter McCluster put up nice fantasy days.  If the Raiders aren’t forced to play from behind, look for Murray to get more of a workload, and he should be a nice producer from just under 6K on DraftKings.

Joseph Randle (5,100): Randle will be the focus of the Cowboys offense after Tony Romo joined Dez Bryant on the sidelines with major injuries.  In his first two weeks as lead-back in the rotation in Dallas, Randle has run for a total of 116 yards and added 56 yards on three catches.  He hasn’t exactly lit up the opposition in Philly or New York or even found the end zone yet, but he’ll be expected to carry the load this week due to the lack of options Dallas has.  He should be able to produce in a good matchup against the Falcons who have allowed more DraftKings points to opposing RB than any other team in the NFL. Everything is pointing his way right now making Randle a high-risk, high-reward RB to start this week.
