The Washington Redskins are the ultimate in “Football LOL.” Washington is hoping to improve to 2-1 on the young 2015 National Football League season on Thursday Night Football against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. The start of the game won’t help that cause.

After going three-and-out on their first offensive possession, the Redskins punted the ball away. Washington narrowly avoided a blocked punt by the onrushing Rashad Jennings, but offsetting penalties forced a re-kick. Somehow, Washington once again could not block Jennings, and this time he did block it, resulting in a safety.

Only the Redskins. It is not even the blocked punt for a safety that is bad, it is that Jennings almost blocked it on the previous play and they ACTUALLY did it the second time around. What in the world is rookie Terrance Plummer doing? He needs to get lower, but instead gets driven back into punter Tress Way, a second-year man out of the University of Oklahoma.

These are the types of things that cost you games. New York is far from an overwhelming opponent for the Redskins, even on the road. However, giving away free points and field position is a disaster for a team with a limited offense and poor coaching staff.

Oh, and when the Giants punted to the Redskins on the following drive, Plummer took a penalty and moved the ball half the distance to the goal line. Awesome.
