Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto and Luis Suarez score late goals in Champions League game (Video)
Just when it looked like Barcelona was down and out in their UEFA Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen, they made a huge comeback.
Coming into the second half of the UEFA Champions League game between Barcelona and Bayer Leverkusen, Barca was down 1-0 on a goal from Kyriakos Papadopoulos.
Barcelona would continue to be shut out by Leverkusen until the team’s offense finally woke up in the 80th minute with a goal from Sergi Roberto to tie the game off a deflection.
Then when it looked like this game could go to extra time, Luis Suarez used his late-game magic to put Barca ahead with this fantastic goal in the 82nd minute.
This goal put Barca up 2-1 and they went onto win by that same score.
This was a huge win for Barca in their first game without world soccer star Lionel Messi, who suffered a knee injury that will keep him out for up to two months. They’re going to continue to need these heroics from the likes of Suarez, Roberto, Neymar, Andres Iniesta, among others going forward in La Liga and the Champions League if they want to keep up with Real Madrid.
Barca will play FC BATE Borisov in their next game while Leverkusen faces FC Augsburg.
