We’re officially into the deep depths of the offseason. Media Day is now in the rearview mirror, preseason is dead ahead and the season is only about a month away. But it’s still not quite here yet. Which, of course, means it’s time to discuss Adam Morrison’s hygiene. Or, well, the lack thereof.

Newest Washington Wizards forward Jared Dudley made a Media Day pitstop at 106.7 The Fan in D.C. on Monday morning, and was asked about some of the, err, less desirable teammates he’s had throughout his career. He came out swinging right away, via the Washington Post:

"“Remember Adam Morrison? He never took showers, he did the chewing tobacco that he spit all the time, and he wore the same three polos the whole year. This is a guy who made a lot of money, too, at that time. He was the face of diabetes, he was doing everything, he was on the cover of college games, he was [everywhere], and he was by far the worst and [most] disgusting.”….”Gerald Wallace had to force him to take a shower one time. Had to force him. Imagine that. Imagine forcing a grown man to take a shower. He should be ashamed of himself.”"

Poor Adam Morrison. Here he is, a nationally renowned, all-time draft bust living his life post-NBA as a video coordinator for Gonzaga’s men’s basketball team, and he’s catching heat for this mess seven years later. For all we know, he just said “screw it” to this overly complicated society we live in, welcomed Mother Earth into his home with open arms and lived life au naturel. Perhaps he, like many others, yearns for simpler times.

Ben Franklin took “air baths” – ergo, he never showered – and the guy practically built this country. Now we’re all shaken up because someone who used to run a 94-foot court and sweat for a living resisted something as arbitrary as a shower? Leave Adam Morrison alone, guys.

(We desperately need the season to start.)
