Jarrett Parker: Late-Season Power Provider

One day down, six more days to go in the final week of the fantasy baseball season. The number of fantasy owners paying attention is dropping by the day. If you are competing for a championship, you need to take advantage of the waiver wire. There is one batter you need to add to your team. With an amazing power display in the last week, pick up Jarrett Parker.

Parker had a four-game stint with the San Francisco Giants in the middle of June. He had just one hit in nine at bats before being sent down. He got called up again in middle of September and made his return on the 11th as a pinch hitter. He then transitioned to the outfield, playing multiple games in each position.

While he’s only had 25 at bats, he is surely making the most of them. Since the September call up, Jarrett Parker has six home runs, 12 RBI, 11 strikeouts, four walks and a .440 batting average. He even gave his fantasy owners a steal. Though, that three-home-run game is a once-in-a-season type game, so don’t expect it again anytime soon.

Jarrett Parker has a 50 percent fly ball percentage, 50 percent hard contact and 50 percent medium contact. Those numbers are likely to drop, but it’s a good start for the 26-year-old outfielder.

If you look at his minor league numbers, this recent run is something we should have expected. In 124 games with Triple-A Sacramento, Parker hit 23 home runs, 74 RBI, 20 steals and a .283 batting average. The Giants have a pretty good lineup, which will give Parker the opportunity to drive in more runs in the final week.

Parker was not owned last week. Now? He is owned in 23.9 percent of ESPN.com leagues. He is the No. 2 outfielder on the Player Rater over the last seven days.

With the Giants out of playoff contention, Jarrett Parker should see consistent playing time in the final week to see if this string of games is legitimate for next season.
