These five NFL teams need to be put on upset alert in Week 4

The NFL is entering Week 4 and the craziness has only marginally settled down around the league. The Indianapolis Colts just barely escaped dropping to 0-3 on the season, the Philadelphia Eagles got their first win against one of the league’s best defenses, Ben Roethlisberger is hurt now, and the Oakland Raiders are 2-1 and in second place in their division. I’m just as confused as you are.

Despite the confusion being piled on with everything that’s played, there is some clarity that we’ve gained over these past three weeks. There are numerous teams that are still too hard to judge just how good they are after three weeks, but it’s pretty easy to realize who the best teams in football are after the three weeks worth of action we’ve seen.

Out in the NFC South, we can certainly say that the Atlanta Falcons are one of the best teams in the league. They’re a team who seem to have found a running game with Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman to go along with their always dangerous passing attack and a beefed up defensive unit under Dan Quinn. The Carolina Panthers are 3-0 in the same division, but haven’t looked as impressive as Atlanta.

The Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals have both looked like real contenders out of the NFC as well. Despite injuries all over their roster, Aaron Rodgers has just kept on trucking and the Packers haven’t yet faltered even slightly. Meanwhile, Bruce Arians has the Cardinals playing like world-beaters now that he has an actual quarterback under center in Carson Palmer.

Switching conferences, the Denver Broncos sit at 3-0, but it’s hard to say that they’ve looked as impressive as we’d have expected. Their offense has been shaky at times, but there’s no denying their defensive talent. Even more surprising than how Denver has looked, the Cincinnati Bengals have been phenomenal to this point. Andy Dalton and the Cincy offense have been clicking on all cylinders while their defense has been stifling.

However, all of these teams sit behind the New England Patriots right now who are quite clearly the best team in the league. On both sides of the ball, this team is playing angry and determined on every down of every game. Combine that with all of their talent and I don’t see a team in the NFL that can stop them right now.

We know all of these teams are tops in the league right now, but one week can change your perspective. That’s something that’s been proven several times already this season.

These are the five teams that should be put on upset alert for Week 4:
