No. 21 Mississippi State vs. No. 14 Texas A&M

The Mississippi State Bulldogs (3-1) will look to continue their winning way this Saturday, as they head on the road to College Station for a showdown with the Texas A&M Aggies (4-0) at Kyle Field.

Senior quarterback Dak Prescott is the focal point of the Mississippi State offense, and is arguably the most talented signal-caller in the SEC. Prescott has been phenomenal through four games in 2015, recording 1,069 passing yards, seven touchdowns and no interceptions, in addition to 121 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. The Bulldogs are coming off a 17-9 road victory over the Auburn Tigers last weekend, during which they picked up there first conference win of the season.

Texas A&M enters Saturday’s contest with a high-powered offense that will likely need to carry a defense that was exposed last week against the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Aggies gave up 457 total yards, including 232 on the ground, but managed to pull out an overtime victory due to late-game heroics from quarterback Kyle Allen and wide receivers Christian Kirk and Josh Reynolds.

Keys to Victory

Mississippi State:

Establishing the running game is going to be huge for Mississippi State against Texas A&M. It appears that a lack of physicality up front is going to hinder the Aggies once again on defense this season, giving the Bulldogs an angle to attack. This will mean a slight deviation from a gameplay that was pass-heavy last week, with running backs carrying the ball just 12 times against Auburn. In addition to attacking the weakness of the Texas A&M defense, running the football allows Mississippi State to control the clock and keep the ball out of the hands of a dangerous Aggies offense.

Under center, Prescott is going to need to limit mistakes and have a near-flawless performance to give his team the edge.

Texas A&M:

The biggest key for Texas A&M on Saturday is going to be getting back to the defense they fielded during the first three weeks of the season and away from the one that nearly had a meltdown against Arkansas. Last week, the Aggies were dominated both through the air and on the ground by the Razorbacks’ offense. With one of the most dynamic players in the country at quarterback in Dak Prescott, Mississippi State has the potential to do the same.

Texas A&M will also need to continue to find success in the passing game. The Bulldogs have looked solid in the secondary so far this season, but the Aggies have enough firepower on offense to turn a game into a blowout if they begin firing on all cylinders.

Prediction

These two teams have been involved in some of the most exciting games in the SEC this season, and expect this matchup to be right up there with the best of them. It features two offenses that are capable of putting up big numbers, as well as a pair of defenses with plenty of question marks.

Dak Prescott and Kyle Allen both put up prolific numbers at the quarterback position, but the Aggies’ defensive shortcomings are the difference in a narrow Bulldogs victory.

Final Score: Mississippi State 41, Texas A&M 38
