For the second time this year, Max Scherzer has thrown a no-hitter for the Washington Nationals.

Max Scherzer won’t be pitching in the postseason this year and the Washington National season is going to come to an end but it was as thrilling of an end as we could have hoped for. For the second time this season, Scherzer tossed a no-hitter and gave Nats fans something to cheer about in these dark days of the season.

Washington was eliminated from the postseason a few weeks ago and they have been dealing with less than pleasant things since then — but Scherzer gave fans something to cheer about and took our minds off the turmoil in Washington as the season winds down.

Fans were more than happy to watch Scherzer do something that is actually pretty rare, as he tossed his second no-hitter of the season on Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader against the New York Mets.

Scherzer almost made this a hat trick of no-hitters, as he nearly threw a no-no in his last start before losing it late in the game.

The Nationals may not be heading to the postseason and there may be sweeping changes coming to management, but this was one helluva way to end the season.
