Dak Prescott delivered another memorable performance on Saturday for Mississippi State, but it was not enough to carry his team to a victory over Texas A&M.

One week after being gashed by Arkansas for 457 yards, the Texas A&M defense stepped up in a big way on Saturday night, and the Aggies cruised to a 30-17 victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

The Aggies jumped ahead early and never looked back. They took a 14-3 lead heading into the second quarter on a pair of Kyle Allen touchdown passes. From this point on, Texas A&M did not allow Mississippi State close the gap to within a touchdown. The Bulldogs appeared to have momentum shift in their favor after taking control of the ball down by 10 early in the fourth quarter, but failed to take advantage of the opportunity, going three-and-out.

Allen proved why he is considered among the top signal-callers in the SEC, passing for 322 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. Wide receivers Josh Reynolds and Christian Kirk continued to impress as well, combining for 218 yards from scrimmage on the night.

Dak Prescott attempted to carry Mississippi State on his back, accounting for 306 of the Bulldogs’ 406 total yards. Prescott found little support, however, and his heroics were not enough to overcome the Aggies’ explosive offensive attack.

The victory moved Texas A&M into a tie with the LSU Tigers atop the SEC West at 2-0 in conference play, after division leader Ole Miss fell to Florida on Saturday.
