The Indianapolis Colts beat the Jacksonville Jaguars at home.

46. 13. 52. Final. 16

For the first time in his NFL career, Andrew Luck missed a start. With the Colts staring down the barrel of a short week and facing a perceived lesser squad in the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Colts opted to sit their franchise player. With the NFL’s oldest quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck, getting the nod, Indianapolis faced a stiff test from the Jags.

Both teams were short on offense, as they could only muster 13 points apiece in the game’s first 60 minutes. Blake Bortles was consistent, but the Jags had no ground game whatsoever as T.J. Yeldon couldn’t muster any traction. It was pretty much the same story on the other sideline, as Indianapolis pieced together a paltry 36 yards .

At game’s end, Bortles grew up in front of America’s eyes and marched his team down the field to set up a Jason Myers field goal. Alas, it wasn’t to be, as Myers juuuuuust missed a 53-yarder. Myers later missed a 48-yard field goal in overtime that would have, again, won the game for Jacksonville.

Given its billionth chance at life, Indianapolis moved quickly down the field due to a long strike from Hasselbeck to Coby Fleener and a powerful run by Frank Gore. Captain Clutch, Adam Vinatieri put it in the books with a 27-yard field goal.

For the second consecutive week the Colts pulled victory from the jaws of defeat; they now sit at 2-2. Meanwhile, the Jags depart Indy knowing they left one on the table.

Three stars
