The Seattle Seahawks were able to beat the Detroit Lions 17-13 in a high-wire act on Monday Night Football at CenturyLink Field. Seattle held a 13-3 lead in the fourth quarter before Russell Wilson fumbled, allowing a 27-yard scoop-and-score by defensive lineman Caraun Reid.

After a punt, Detroit drove the length of the field and seemed destined for a go-ahead score. However, Calvin Johnson caught a Matthew Stafford pass inside Seattle’s 5-yard line and stretched for the goal line, only to have safety Kam Chancellor punch the ball out, forcing a game-winning touchback.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Russell Wilson

Wilson was terrific considering he was pounded all night behind a porous offensive line. Wilson was sacked six times and did lose two fumbles (including one returned for a touchdown), but still completed 20-of-26 passes for 287 yards and a touchdown with no interception. Wilson scrambled for what seems like days, rushing eight times for 43 yards.

2. Ezekiel Ansah

Ansah was terrific all night. The youngster was able to string out run plays to the sidelines and sacked Wilson twice along with a forced fumble and the subsequent recovery. Ansah is immensely talented, using a rare combination of size and speed to disrupt the pocket all night.

3. Kam Chancellor

Chancellor was an enforcer all night, and he made the biggest play of the game against Detroit. Johnson was going to the end zone with 1:45 remaining but Chancellor refuses to quit on the play and punched the ball out from behind, forcing a touchback. Without Chancellor’s play, the Seahawks are likely 1-3.

Odds

Seattle was favored by 10 points and did not cover the spread.
