No. 11 Florida Gators vs. Missouri Tigers

The Florida Gators are coming off their best win, arguably, in years as they took down the No. 3 Ole Miss Rebels at home last Saturday. Jim McElwain is starting to look like the coach that Florida fans had hoped for and he’s proving doubters wrong one game at a time for the 5-0 Gators.

Florida has one of the top rising quarterbacks in college football in freshman Will Grier who has put together a solid start to the year, racking up 996 yards and 10 touchdowns with three interceptions after beating sophomore Treon Harris out for the starting job out of fall camp. Grier may lead a solid passing game, but the Gators’ run game has been relatively stagnant, averaging just 140 yards per game.

Defensively, the Gators have been as strong against the run as any team in the country, ranking 15th in the country against opposing running backs, allowing just under 100 yards per game. The pass defense ranks 54th in the nation.

Missouri’s defense isn’t easy to move the ball on, either, allowing just 12 points per game and just 260 yards of total offense. The Tigers’ pass defense ranks 13th in the country.

Starting quarterback Maty Mauk is suspended for this one, so that leaves unproven freshman starter Drew Lock to face the tough Florida defense. Even with the veteran quarterback under center, Missouri has yet to really put together an impressive win.

Sophomore receiver Nate Brown is looking the best of all receivers, catching 17 passes for 192 yards and four touchdowns — all team-highs. The run game, though, is where the struggles really take place as the Tigers average a measly 116 yards per game on the ground.
