No. 2 TCU Horned Frogs vs. Kansas State Wildcats

Watching the TCU offense is a thing of beauty and it’s safe to say that the success on that side of the ball is carrying this team to the top. The Horned Frogs average an incredible 630 total yards per game, including 396 yards each week through the air. Through five games, that’s an unbelievable accomplishment.

Trevone Boykin is clearly one of the top-two or three Heisman contenders since he is off to such a hot start, passing for 1,802 yards, 19 touchdowns and just three picks. Those stats are on pace to reach over 4,000 yards and over 40 touchdowns on the year and he has also rushed for 242 yards and two scores.

Josh Doctson has been his favorite target by far, catching 42 passes for 722 yards and eight touchdowns. The run game has been solid, too, as Aaron Green leads the way with 504 yards and six touchdowns. The defense hasn’t been great, however, allowing nearly 400 yards per game.

Kansas State, on the other hand, has a relatively bland offense that hasn’t exploded for any significant output thus far in 2015. The quarterback situation for the Wildcats is an ugly one as these guys are now on their fifth-string quarterback — and may even have to rely on some non-QB position players to run the offense.

Last week, Kody Cook, a receiver, led the way at quarterback for the Wildcats against Oklahoma State before he was injured after a long 32-yard run late in the game. His status is uncertain for this one as is Joe Hubener’s who is still not fully recovered from his concussion.

Freshman running back Justin Silmon will have to lead the way on offense if there is no threat at QB and he has done a solid job this year, racking up 260 yards and two touchdowns in limited time, still leading the team.
