After Michigan punter Blake O’Neill fumbled the game away against Michigan State, Michigan made him available for the first time to the media.

The game between Michigan and Michigan State saw one of the most improbable if not the most improbable ending in college football history, when Michigan punter Blake O’Neill fumbled on the last play of the game with the lead and the Spartans returned the fumble for the winning touchdown.

Not hiding from anyone, Michigan made the young punter available for the media today and he handled the game and the questions asked of him like a complete professional.

Speaking to reporter’s, O’Neill mentioned just how great the support for him has been since the game ended.

Even better was the way that O’Neill handled a question asked of him about why he decided to talk to the media so soon after his gaffe on the field.

He wasn’t afraid to talk about the last play and he showed that he has moved on like the program has as they prepare for the rest of the season, which has been nothing short of an incredible success under head coach Jim Harbaugh’s first year on the job.

For those wondering if O’Neill has been on Twitter to see all the messages from upset trolls after the game, the answer is pretty simple.

He may have not made the smart play on the field Saturday, but he’s making the smart plays off the field and O’Neill and Michigan will be better served going forward as a result of it.

Saturday might have been one of the craziest days in the history of college football for Michigan and Michigan State fans. While the memories of Saturday, will be lingering on for a long time for those fans, they aren’t for the football team and Blake O’Neill and that’s all that matters.
