The Chicago Cubs gifted third base to David Wright to commemorate the New York Mets’ NLCS win.

The New York Mets wrapped up a sweep of the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night to win the National League Championship Series and advance to the World Series.

As a parting gift for the departing Mets, the Cubs gifted third base to Mets captain David Wright.

Wright is a 12-year MLB veteran and advancing to the first World Series of his career. The Cubs and Wright share the bond of postseason struggles over recent years and it was a nice gesture.

You could say the Cubs are essentially paying it forward. When they visited the Los Angeles Dodgers in August and pitcher Jake Arrieta threw a no-hitter, the Dodgers gave him the pitching rubber as a memento.

The Cubs weren’t the only one to congratulate Wright either, the New York Giants sent a congratulatory tweet as well.

And if you really want to get choked up, watch his post-game interview.
