Cameron Smith came up with his second interception of the game to put USC in even better position to upset Utah.

USC inside linebacker Cameron Smith is having himself a breakout game to remember, having already intercepted Utah quarterback Travis Wilson twice in the first half. Smith came up with a 54-yard interception and took it to the house to provide a glimmer of hope for Trojans fans. Here is a video of the true freshman linebacker making a name for himself at The Coliseum.

Smith dodged a Utah defender before he found a clear path to the end zone, and he received adequate blocking from his teammates to make it all the way. The USC linebacker has made this game a night to forget for Wilson, who did a great job of not turning the ball over before this game. Wilson had thrown seven touchdowns with just three interceptions while completing 67.9 percent of his passes. However, the Trojans may have found a new ascending leader for their defense.

Smith is playing his first year of USC football after enrolling in school a semester early. He appears to be well on his way to becoming a fixture in the USC defense if his two interceptions are any indication of what’s to come. He is clearly becoming a welcome addition to a defense that has struggled since the Trojans moved on from the Pete Carroll era.

No top-10 team has suffered an upset loss in Week 8 of college football, but Utah may be the latest victim of the upset bug if USC can keep up their momentum.
