Alabama welcomed in Tennessee on Saturday afternoon and they barely survived with a win

It’s the third Saturday in October, which of course means that it was time for one of the biggest rivalries in the SEC to take center stage once again as the Tennessee Volunteers went on the road to Bryant-Denny Stadium to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alabama got the scoring started first in this one, when with just about seven minutes to go in the first quarter, Derrick Henry would burst his way through the Tennessee defense for the 20-yard touchdown. At that point, it looked like the Tennessee defense would have a rough go in the first half, but they would settle in.

Then, with time running out in the opening quarter, Tennessee would answer the Tide with a score of their own. Joshua Dobbs rolled out and hit Josh Smith for the 11-yard score, as Smith was wide open in the end zone. This somewhat silenced the crowd in Tuscaloosa a bit.

Near the end of the first half, Tennessee would have a chance to take the lead with a field goal after driving down the field but the attempt was missed. These two would go into the locker rooms tied at seven.

Defense was still the name of the game in the third quarter of this one, as the only scoring that we would see came on an Alabama field goal to take a 10-7 lead with nine minutes to go.

In the fourth quarter, Alabama would add another field goal to push the lead to 13-7, but Tennessee would answer. With 5:49 to go, Jalen Hurd ran one in from 12 yards out to give Tennessee their first lead of the day at the perfect time.

After being punched in the mouth, though, Alabama would respond. The Tide would drive the field 71 yards in eight plays to take a 19-14 lead after a 14-yard Henry scoring run, his second of the day. The two-point conversion was no good. Tennessee would have one last chance to get the monumental win in this one, but a sack of Joshua Dobbs would knock the ball loose and it was recovered by Alabama to seal the win.

Jalen Hurd, RB, Tennessee: 18 carries, 92 yards, 1 TD
