Cowboys vs Giants, 27-20: Full highlights, final score and more
Did America’s game of the week between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants disappoint?
The New York Giants came into this one hoping for a big home victory over the Dallas Cowboys which would also give them a boost in the divisional race. A win for each team would put them right up there with the firs-place Philadelphia Eagles, depending on how Chip Kelly’s squad fared on Sunday night.
Sunday’s game of the week was tightly contested throughout and it happened to be Matt Cassel’s first start of 2015. The veteran quarterback looked a little rusty throughout the day, throwing three picks, but he ultimately gave the Cowboys all he had.
Eli Manning had his second straight difficult game as he was held to under 200 yards and zero touchdown passes, but it didn’t matter in the end.
Oh yeah, and we got to see the re-emergence of Darren McFadden for the Cowboys after it seemed like the starting job would go to Christine Michael following an increased workload this week. Michael only had five carries and Joseph Randle had two.
Three Stars
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie had a gigantic game for the Giants. Besides picking off a pass and returning it for a touchdown in a crucial late-game situation, he added another pick and a couple of tackles.
Daren McFadden really came to life and he may have just secured the starting running back role for the Cowboys after putting up 152 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries.
Dwayne Harris did have two catches for 43 yards, but it was his 100-yard kick return in the fourth quarter to put the Giants up for good against his former team that make him a star.
Highlights
Odds
The Giants were three-point favorites at home and the over/under was set at 44.5 points. Ultimately, you didn’t know if you were going to win, if you had a bet placed, until the final punt of the game in which the Cowboys muffed with under two minutes left to lose by seven. Also, hopefully you chose the over.
Next Week
The Cowboys will face the suddenly confident Seattle Seahawks who are coming off a win on Thursday night and looking to carry momentum forward. A win for the Cowboys would definitely go a long way, especially if Dez Bryant can come back and contribute.
New York will hit the road to face the New Orleans Saints who are also coming off a huge victory this week, giving them some confidence moving forward and two straight wins over solid teams. The Giants will treat that as a must-win.
