With Seth Russell now out for the remainder of the college football season, Jarrett Stidham is now the leader of the Baylor offense

This past Saturday in the win over Iowa State, Baylor starting quarterback Seth Russell went down with a neck injury and it was revealed that he would be undergoing some tests. Well, Russell has undergone those tests and it has been determined on Monday that he will require surgery and be out the remainder of the season.

With that being the case, many are probably wondering who the new signal caller will be for the Bears, especially since they are currently the No. 2 ranked team in the country and on pace for a spot in the College Football Playoff. The answer to that question is highly-touted true freshman, Jarrett Stidham, a former five-star recruit.

Yes, the thought of a true freshman taking over one of the best teams in the country that possesses one of the most explosive offenses is a scary thought, but it might not be as scary as you think. Stidham has seen time on the field in every game this season for the Bears, completing 24 of his 28 passes for 331 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions. While mainly in mop-up duty, this young man has the tools to keep this Baylor train rolling.

As you can see above, whether coach speak or not, he has the stamp of approval of head coach Art Briles. The freshman from Stephenville, Texas will now be handed the keys to the Ferrari for good here in 2015 to see if he can lead the Bears to the College Football Playoff appearance that they narrowly missed out on last season.
