LeBron James is healthy and ready for Cavs season opener
LeBron James will be on the court when the Cleveland Cavaliers open their 2015-16 NBA season.
While there may have been some doubts as to whether LeBron James would be healthy enough to start on opening night against the Chicago Bulls, the Cleveland Cavaliers forward appears rested and ready to go. Per Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio, James is intent on playing on Tuesday night.
James was given an anti-inflammatory injection in his back ten days ago and at that time, the Cavaliers indicated that he would miss the remainder of the preseason while the medication did its job. However, there was some lingering doubts about how quickly the shot would take hold.
After having a similar shot in the middle of the 2014-15 season, James went on to miss two weeks of time while recovering. However, that injection came after his back acted up on him. This time around, James and the Cavaliers were a bit proactive and opted to undergo the treatment preeminently in order to limit the recovery time.
James missed 13 games last season due to the back and the recovery time from the anti-inflammatory injection. Still, he managed to provide the Cavs with 25.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game. Additionally, he was strong during the team’s playoff push, averaging 30.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 8.5 assists while Cleveland made a run at the NBA title.
The Cavs will open up their season on Tuesday night, when they visit Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls. Cleveland eliminated the Bulls in the second round of the NBA playoffs last season and made the NBA Finals before falling short to the Golden State Warriors.
