Tony Jefferson became the Cardinals’ biggest hero on Monday night with a game-winning interception.

Arizona Cardinals safety Tony Jefferson sealed a close win for the Cardinals by snagging an interception in the end zone with six seconds left in the game.

The Cardinals escaped with a 26-18 win at home against the Baltimore Ravens, as Jefferson intercepted Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco. Here is a video of Jefferson helping the Cardinals defense protect its reputation as one of the top units in the NFL.

The Ravens gave the Cardinals a scare in the fourth quarter though, as they came back from a 26-10 deficit. The Cardinals had a punt blocked. The Ravens immediately capitalized on this miscue as Flacco threw a one-yard touchdown pass to fullback Kyle Juszczyk. He subsequently completed the two-point conversion to tight end Nick Boyle.

The Ravens defense held strong on the Cardinals’ final offensive drive, which gave them one more chance to send the game to overtime. Flacco put the Ravens in position to threaten to tie the game. He completed a 31-yard pass to wide receiver Chris Givens before throwing a 23-yard pass to tight end Crockett Gillmore.

However, the Cardinals held strong at the goal line as Jefferson came up with his second interception of the season. The Cardinals improved to 5-2 with their win while the Ravens fell to 1-6.  Jefferson had never logged an interception until this season, but he has made his third season in the NFL the charm since being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cardinals.
