Offensive Player of the Week

Lamar Miller, RB Miami Dolphins

One can only stop to imagine just how ridiculous Lamar Miller’s performance on Sunday would have been if not for Miami’s insurmountable halftime lead.

Miller and the Dolphins rolled over the Texans in embarrassing fashion, and the talented running back posted incredible numbers in only one half of play. Miller rushed for 175 yards on just 14 (!) carries in the first half, and he added three catches for 61 yards and two total touchdowns for good measure. The final result of a 44-26 win is misleading as to how one-sided this game was, but Lamar Miller and the Dolphins are beginning to live up to the preseason hype under Dan Campbell.

Runner-up: Mike Evans, WR Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Defensive Player of the Week

Michael Bennett, DL Seattle Seahawks

Remember Thursday night?

The Seahawks were dominant on the defensive side of the ball in decimating Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers, and Michael Bennett was the biggest reason for that level of performance. Bennett led the NFL with 3.5 sacks in Week 7, and he added five tackles while keying the 20-3 victory.

Bennett has always been a terrifying pass-rusher, something Kaepernick knows that firsthand. However, he is also the rare player who can be a terror in the running game, and his physicality is contagious when compared to the rest of the NFL at his position.

Runner-up: Kawann Short, DT Carolina Panthers
