Five of the top seven teams in the country are taking the week off, and as a result, much of the college football world feels sleepy when compared to a typical weekend in late October. There is not a “prime” match-up of top-15 teams to be had, and despite the presence of a few rivalry games and contests that will have an impact on various conference races, many have opined that this is the best weekend of the football season to “take one off”.

I disagree.

All of the data put forth above is true, but that does not mean that there are not quality story lines to follow this week. In this space, we will once again bring you a look at five of the players that you should be keeping an eye on this weekend, and each of them is immensely talented. It is fair to point out that these are not big names, as you may have gathered by the sheer presence of Georgia running back Sony Michel in the headline of this column, but that won’t stop these athletes from making their impact known in a hurry.

These names will be coming at you in alphabetical order for the sake of clarity and to avoid the perception of a “ranking”, and each of these players will be featured in a prominent game on Saturday. Without additional hemming and hawing, let’s get to the business at hand.
