Advertisements on uniforms has long been discussed in sports. They are finally becoming a reality, starting with the NBA All-Star uniforms.

The reality of advertisements on uniforms is almost here. Long been discussed as a source of revenue, major professional sports in the United States have discussed adding advertisements to their uniforms, much like in the EPL, which has received lots of criticism from people that don’t want to see jerseys cluttered with ads.

The National Basketball Association, which has always been on the cutting edge of trends in sports, will be adding ads to their All-Star uniforms this season.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the NBA has partnered with Kia to put an ad on jerseys during the game.

"The National Basketball Association is planning to put a sponsored 3.25 inch by 1.6 inch patch with a KIA logo on the upper left chest of the player jerseys for both the 2016 and 2017 All-Star games, according to the league."

The big thing to take away from this is that this is just the beginning. With advertisements on the jerseys of the All-Star teams the next two seasons, it’s likely that league will continue that trend as they use market research to make further additions to other jerseys.

There are various ways the league can go about doing this, but it makes sense from a business standpoint that they begin integrating ads onto jerseys, even if they might not look aesthetically pleasing.

Advertisements on uniforms are here and they’re here to stay.
