LeBron James plans on playing every single game this season for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In the NBA, superstars will occasionally get nights off and plenty of rest as the season is a long one and the playoffs can be a grueling stretch where extra rest is necessary. Don’t tell LeBron James that, because he is setting out to do something that he has never done in his career before.

That feat he is aiming for? According to Sporting News, LeBron wants to play every single game of the 2015-2016 season.

"James was asked Friday how many games he expects to play this season; he swiftly answered, “Eighty-two.”"

That certainly comes as a surprise, especially considering the wear and tear that LeBron has from five straight trips to the Finals and having to put the team on his back in last year’s edition against the Golden State Warriors.

Getting older and wanting to stay fresh for the playoffs seems to make sense for a guy like LeBron. The Cavaliers were bitten by the injury bug in the playoffs and still almost won a championship. Staying healthy might guarantee the Cavaliers their first championship in franchise history and completing LeBron’s promise to the city.

It might not seem smart to some, but LeBron is a competitor and wants to make sure that in the Eastern Conference, the Cavaliers have the No. 1 seed and the easiest route possible to another trip to the NBA Finals in 2016.

Even more incredible is the fact he said that despite having a sore back. Rest would seem to be in the future, but to LeBron that’s not even in the realm of possibilities. It will be also interesting if, should he play every game this season, he looks healthy and rested when the playoffs roll around. He’s got a lot more mileage on his legs than a lot of the other players in the league.

Regardless, he wants to win and he’s going to play every single game and give it his all for the city he loves.
