No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs No. 21 Temple Owls

Not too many people expected the Notre Dame versus Temple game to be the destination for College GameDay at the beginning of the year, but here we are in week nine and the Fighting Irish and Owls are the primetime game of the week.

DeShone Kizer has slid over from third-string quarterback last year to starter this year with the transfer of Everett Golson and the injury of Malik Zaire. While it seems as if a team with a third-string QB starting would suffer, such has not been the case as Kizer has been a revelation for the Irish — and he was a solid high school prospect a couple years ago.

Notre Dame has the better offense of the two teams, but the Owls have the top defense in the matchup — and one of the best in the entire nation. In fact, C.J. Prosise will have a tough time picking up yards on the ground against the Owls as they have the sixth-best run defense in the country. The passing game might become the crucial area for the Irish.

As for the Owls, the run game will be relied on more as P.J. Walker averages just under 200 yards per game through the air while the run game is ranked just 93rd in the country, but Jahad Thomas is one of the better backs Notre Dame will face all year.
