College Basketball Rankings 2015: Preseason AP Poll released; North Carolina on top

The preseason college basketball AP Poll was released on Monday and the North Carolina Tar Heels are at the top

Now that we have hit the month of November, it’s time to get excited about college basketball, which will be starting up in full force later on this month. That said, on Monday, we were treated to the first AP Poll of the season for 2015-16.

While we are certainly used to the Kentucky Wildcats owning the top of the poll, that is not the case to start the season here. No, that distinction belongs to none other than the North Carolina Tar Heels, who have a plethora of talent on this roster and are expected to make waves on the national scene. However, they are only No. 1 over Kentucky by a narrow margin.

The No. 3 team in the country shouldn’t surprise a lot of people either, as the Maryland Terrapins get set to try and live up to some lofty expectations. This is the second-highest preseason ranking ever for this Maryland program.

Oh, and for those wondering, Maryland will play North Carolina on December 1 as part of the always famous ACC/Big ten Challenge.
