5 trade destinations for Colin Kaepernick
By Dani Bostick
What are some possible trade destinations for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick now that he’s been benched?
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert. The 2-6 49ers are sitting at the bottom of the NFC West, the only team with a losing record in their division.
They have also become one of the worst teams in the entire league, ranked last in points per game with a measly 13.6, last in yards per game at 282.2, and 31st in passing yards per game with an embarrassing 181.1. The 49ers total offense is even worse than the Tennessee Titans, who are in such dire straits that they just fired their head coach Ken Whisenhunt.
The team’s dismal performance so far this season isn’t entirely Kaepernick’s fault, but he does bear much of the blame. The 49ers didn’t score any touchdowns in their last two games against Seattle and St. Louis. In fact, Kaepernick has only thrown 6 touchdowns so far this season, while racking up five interceptions.
With news of Gabbert’s promotion to the starting position and Kaepernick’s demotion to clipboard-holder and backup, could Kaepernick find a home with another team?
The team announced the decision to bench their starter the day before the trade deadline, opening up the possibility of a move for their former star.
Here are five potential trade destinations for Kaepernick.
