5 trade destinations for Colin Kaepernick
By Dani Bostick
4. Buffalo Bills
The Bills opened their season with a stunning victory against the Indianapolis Colts. As it turns out, the victory was only stunning in Week 1. With the benefit of hindsight, we know that the Colts are just not a very good team this year.
Buffalo is close to being a good team. At 3-4 they behind the undefeated New England Patriots and 4-3 New York Jets. The Bills are tied with the Dolphins, a team reinvigorated with interim coach Dan Campbell at the helm.
Starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been sidelined with an injured knee, leaving backup E.J. Manuel in charge. Taylor is expected to be back for the Week 9 game against the division rival Miami Dolphins.
Taylor is an adequate quarterback, throwing 9 touchdowns and four interceptions in the five games he started before his injury. Taylor averages a little over 200 yards per game through the air, and is also fairly mobile, totaling 187 yards on the ground in 31 attempts and five games so far this season.
Kaepernick probably isn’t a better choice than Taylor at this point, but as a dual-threat with experience and potential, he could provide some interesting options for Rex Ryan and the Bills.
The Bill situation at quarterback is not a dreadful as initially predicted in the off season, but they could surely benefit from a seasoned veteran with a unique skill set. With a more functional offensive line and different coaches, Kaepernick could end up being an asset to the Bills.
