The Cleveland Browns will be making the move to start Johnny Manziel against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football.

The neverending saga of Johnny Football will be getting yet another chapter in primetime on Thursday night as the Cleveland Browns have announced they will be making a change at starting quarterback. Putting Johnny Manziel back as the team’s quarterback in place of Josh McCown following recent losses for the team.

Manziel has started just one game for the Browns this season, but with McCown banged up and struggling the Browns the coaching staff was placed with a tough decision to stick with experience or to evaluate their 2014 first round pick. This, even in the wake of his recent controversy surrounding a road stop where Manziel was accused of being intoxicated as well as allegedly hitting his girlfriend despite not being charged with any crimes.

All of those off the field distractions appear to be a non-issue as head coach Mike Pettine will start Manziel in an important AFC North rivalry game in the Battle of Ohio, as the Browns will be looking to get their season back on track against the undefeated Bengals. NFL Network’s Rand Getlin reporting that Manziel will get the start.

Manziel is going to have a tough go of things against a Bengals team that appears to be a Super Bowl contender, but with the Browns only win coming with Johnny Football as the starter back in Week 2 this appears to be the right move for the team. Josh McCown offers little upside or hope of turning things around, so it is time for the Manziel experiment to return and make Thursday Night Football just a little more exciting this week with a big storyline now taking center stage.
