Matt Stafford’s days with the Detroit Lions could be numbered

According to Ian Rapoport, Detroit Lions quarterback Matt Stafford might need to find a new home after the 2015 season.

A switch at quarterback would compliment other radical changes the organization is implementing after the team’s dismal 1-7 start to the season.  The organization has already fired general manger Martin Mayhew and president Tom Lewand who have been on the job since the end of the horrendous Matt Millen era and his final 0-16 season in 2008.

If rumors about Matt Stafford are true, the organization will be saying farewell to their 27-year old quarterback who has been with the organization since he was acquired in 2009 as their first-round, first-overall pick. If Stafford leaves, the Lions will stuck with $11 million of dead money, a price they may be willing to pay to find a new face of the organization.

Stafford has impressive credentials. He is one of five quarterbacks in NFL history to pass for over 5,000 yards in a single season and he is the Detroit Lions all-time leader in passing touchdowns, passing attempts, passing completions, and passing yards.

If Stafford’s time with the Lions comes to a close, he could be an attractive candidate to organizations looking for a seasoned veteran.

Let’s take a look at some landing spots for Matthew Stafford.
