As one of the most talented and unique players available in free agency, Jason Heyward should have a number of suitors lined up for his services.

Much of the attention this MLB offseason will be focused on a loaded starting pitching free agent class, but a few position players are in line for a big payday.

Leading that group is St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jason Heyward. As likely the best all-around position player available, Heyward will have a number of teams interested and will end up with a long-term contract pushing $200 million.

Heyward is one of the more unique top free agents available in recent memory. At just 26 years old, Heyward will still be in his prime for much of his next contract and should still be an effective player for the duration of it.

Some also believe that Heyward has not quite reached his full potential yet, particularly at the plate. With a 6-5, 250 pound frame and great athleticism, many expected Heyward to hit for more power by this point in his career.

In any case, Heyward will still be a very effective player for a long time even if he keeps hitting at his current level. Heyward posted 6.0 WAR this season according to FanGraphs behind his usual great defense and baserunning, in addition to a 121 wRC+, his best mark since 2012.

There’s a good chance Heyward goes back to St. Louis, but a number of other teams will be lined up should he decided to head elsewhere.
