John Wall isn’t giving Isaiah Thomas any easy buckets

John Wall has quietly developed into a complete player and a star for the Washington Wizards over the past few seasons. His offensive game has progressed a great deal since when he first debuted in the league and he’s emerged as a viable leader of a quality NBA team. Even with that offensive progression, there’s no doubt that Wall’s greatest skill is his ability to make plays on the defensive end of the floor. Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas found that out the hard way on Friday night.

Thomas got loose on a Celtics fast break and crossed up the only Wizards player in front of him in Bradley Beal. Thomas thought that was all he needed to do to have an easy finish at the rim. He should have realized that one of the fastest players in the league in Wall was chasing him down before Wall obliterated Thomas’ lay-up attempt with a massive block:

Wall doesn’t get nearly the amount of credit that he likely deserves for what he can do on a basketball court. Players who can play with the aggressiveness, composure, and speed that he plays with on both ends of the floor are a rarity in the game of basketball as a whole. It’s plays like this that give us a friendly reminder of just how valuable Wall is to the Wizards and of the incredible things that he’s capable of doing at any given moment in any given game.
