The San Diego Chargers are playing very well on Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears, and the defense is leading the charge. After taking a 7-0 lead on a Danny Woodhead touchdown reception in the first quarter, the Chargers added another touchdown in the second quarter on Jason Verrett’s pick-six of Jay Cutler.

The best part about that interception? It led to this celebration from Philip Rivers.

Fantastic.

Rivers and the Chargers were celebrating something fierce, but it wold not last. San Diego immediately missed the extra point on one of the uglier attempts you will ever see. The Bears then struck later in the second quarter on a Martellus Bennett touchdown catch. The score was Cutler’s 138th touchdown pass with the team, giving him the all-time franchise mark ahead of Hall of Fame quarterback Sid Luckman.

San Diego is trying to get its third win of the season and Verrett’s theft might prove to be the turning point. The Chargers are hoping to get back in the playoff race, but did sustain another serious injury with wide receiver Malcom Floyd going down with a painful shoulder injury.

The Chargers are 2-6 and sitting one game behind the Kansas City Chiefs for third place in the AFC West.
