Offering up the five most pivotal college football players in Week 11.

Each week of college football brings a crazy finish and, if nothing else, a wildly entertaining way to spend a Saturday on the couch. This week is no different, in that there are a handful of tremendously important contests set to be played on the gridiron. As always, our charge is to pinpoint five players that the public should be keeping an eye on as the weekend approaches.

While Week 11 does not boast a signature game to the level of Alabama-LSU from a week ago, there are two conference games (Mississippi State-Alabama and Oklahoma-Baylor) that pit top-20 opponents against one another. Elsewhere, perhaps the best non-Power 5 game of the season is on the docket between Memphis and Houston. That game certainly took a hit in terms of publicity when the Tigers were sunk by the Navy Midshipmen last week, but at the same time, no one doubts the entertainment value that Tom Herman and Justin Fuente’s squads can produce.

As a reminder, this column is not the place to come for a run-of-the-mill game preview, as the five players included will rarely be the best five players that will take the field over the weekend. Still, it is an interesting mix of high-end talent and more under-the-radar individuals that face extraordinary circumstances each week. Consider this something of a viewing guide for both diehards and casual fans alike.

It is almost time for college football, and with that, let’s unveil the players under the spotlight this week.
