Kevin Durant left in the second half of last night’s 125-101 victory over the Washington Wizards with a strained left hamstring injury.

Kevin Durant left the game during the second half in last night’s 125-101 victory against the Washington Wizards. The Oklahoma City Thunder announced that an MRI revealed their star has a strained left hamstring and will be out for at least 7-10 days and will then be re-evaluated.

With Durant back in the lineup, OKC has started 5-3, currently a half-game ahead of the 4-3 Utah Jazz for first place in the division just two weeks into the season.

After Durant missed most of last season with a foot injury, a strain is the best news for the organization, however, it is still worrisome for Durant. After missing just 16 total games in his first seven seasons combined, he missed 55 games after having surgery, and will tally on a few after this announcement.

Even more ironic? Durant walked off the court in a game against the Washington Wizards. Why is that important? Durant becomes a free agent next summer, and unless he is able to sign a new contract extension with the Thunder, one of the team’s that has been thought of to be highly in the mix to sign him is… his hometown Wizards.

Still, the Thunder (and their fans) shouldn’t be worried. Russell Westbrook has this.
