The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets are locked in a defensive battle which saw the Bills take the lead 9-3 off a special teams turnover by New York

The Thursday Night Football games are often ugly as teams seem ill prepared to take the field after a short turnaround, and the game between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets is no exception. In an ugly game, with ugly uniforms, it is only fitting that the first score was ugly too.

Jets rookie Devin Smith took a kickoff out from five yards inside the end zone only to have the ball punched out by Bills safety Bacarri Rambo while he was going to the turf. Fellow Bills defender Duke Williams picked the ball up and ran it in from 19-yards out for the first touchdown of the game.

It was only fitting that the game which both teams seem allergic to scoring points that the Bills kicker Dan Carpenter failed to hit the extra point. It was the second miss of the season for the veteran kicker.

Both teams are struggling to move the ball as Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor is just 6-of-10 passing for 39 yards and Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is 5-of-17 for 90 yards and one interception.
