Chandler Parsons doesn’t think too highly of DeAndre Jordan, who jilted Parsons’ Mavericks this offseason, and doesn’t think Los Angeles does either.

The bitter rivalry between the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Clippers is clearly under way in 2015. Many members of the Mavericks organization are still angry about how Clippers center DeAndre Jordan jilted them during the NBA’s free agency period last summer. Starting small forward Chandler Parsons doesn’t believe that either Dallas or Los Angeles view Jordan as a priority.

The resentment for Jordan in Dallas stems from the Clippers’ free agent big man nearly signing a contract with Dallas owner Mark Cuban, only to back out of the proposed deal a few days later to stay in Los Angeles. Jordan is a Texas native and played collegiately in College Station for the Texas A&M Aggies.

Parsons, who left rival Houston for Dallas two summers ago, is one of the players most affected by Jordan deciding to stay with Los Angeles. The Mavericks have an aging superstar in power forward Dirk Nowitzki. Parsons could have been cornerstones with Jordan in Dallas, as the club would transition in the post-Dirk years.

Dallas beat Los Angeles at the American Airlines Center Wednesday night, 118-108. It seems as if Dallas is making such a huge deal out of a free agency situation that apparently wasn’t going to happen. The Mavericks did what any team that has high hopes for making the playoffs in the Western Conference: beat a fellow Western foe at home.

Both Dallas and Los Angeles will meet again two more times this regular season, in Dallas on March 7th and in Los Angeles on April 10th. With the Clippers perceived as one of the top four teams in the West and Dallas as a potential five to eight seed, what if these two met in the first or second round in the Western Conference Playoffs? The Twitter-verse may not recover from all the banana emojis.
