Kyrie Irving makes his return as Uncle Drew to defeat a new foe.
With the NBA season started, Pepsi has released the much-anticipated fourth installment of the hilarious Uncle Drew commercials.
For those who don’t know, Uncle Drew is Cleveland Cavaliers’ point guard Kyrie Irving dressed up as an old man. In the previous commercials, Uncle Drew would take it to younger players on the court with his gray beard and glasses. This time around it was a battle of old men, however, as a new foe emerged.
In the commercial starring Irving, Baron Davis, and comedian J.B. Smoove, Uncle Drew heads to the court to settle a score with ‘Skinny Walt’, who is played by Ray Allen. In his NBA career, Allen is recognized as one of the best shooters in the history of the NBA with the most three-point attempts made, and his character Skinny Walt.
There were rumors that Allen may join the Cavaliers last season after LeBron James signed in order to chase another ring, but instead Allen decided to remain retired and provide us a hilarious commercial.
In the commercial, Skinny Walt challenges Uncle Drew to a game of HORSE, which is a shooting competition to prove who can knock down all types of shots. After a good battle on the court with each old man matching each other, Uncle Drew was finally able to get the best of Skinny Walt down the stretch with a few trick shots, including one from a motorized scooter.
Uncle Drew’s younger form has yet to step on the court this year, as he is recovering from a knee injury. The Cavaliers haven’t had much of a problem without their starting point guard in the lineup, as they have a 7-1 record.
Irving is expected to return somewhere around late December or January, so it will be Mo Williams and Matthew Dellavedova getting a majority of the playing time in his absence.
After defeating Allen in a shooting competition, what could be next for Uncle Drew?
