42. California Memorial Stadium (Cal)

This is one of the very few stadiums on this list to undergo a big-time facelift in the past decade. California Memorial Stadium was experiencing some problems with the overall structure of the venue as it was built on a fault line and mother nature had forced a few supporting columns and beams to diverge and it posed a danger to the fans.

Luckily, a multi-million dollar project was proposed and accepted, giving the stadium a two-year construction period in which the Cal Golden Bears had to play at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

Unfortunately for Cal, the school is over $400 million in debt after this because it has had a hard time convincing donors to buy certain seats which were supposed to be used toward the renovation costs.

On the bright side, the entire west side of the stadium is brand-spanking new and has some pretty awesome tradition behind the walls of the 82-year-old field.

In fact, one of the most memorable plays in sports history took place on this very field as the Big Game took place between Cal and Stanford in November of 1982 and the game looked all but wrapped up in the Cardinal’s favor. However, a multi-lateral play on the final kickoff won the game for the Golden Bears as Kevin Moen’s trucked over a Stanford band player on his way into the history books.
