Week 9 was a fun one for daily fantasy players as the winners and losers were largely decided by the Monday Night game between the Chargers and Bears. If you went with my love of the game, and the players like Phillip Rivers and Jeremy Langford, chances are you won some DraftKings cash game money. Let’s try to keep the money coming in this week.

Week 10 is a potentially dangerous one for me personally because there are no punt plays that I am in love with. I prefer to go with more of a “stars and scrubs” approach when I can and find those great values. But with the bye weeks and plenty of game time decisions, there aren’t many value plays I love today. That might change Sunday, so wake up early and keep your eyes on Twitter.

Quarterbacks

Tom Brady, NE ($8,600) Brady is the most expensive quarterback on DraftKings for good reason. He’s going up against the Giants, a team that gave up 7 passing touchdowns to Brees and the Saints two weeks ago (and if Mike Evans didn’t drop half the passes thrown his way, Winston would have had a great game too). Last week Brady didn’t put up tons of fantasy points because they didn’t have to. The Giants can actually put up points, and while it won’t be a close game, I think Eli and the Giants will make Brady have to keep scoring to win.

Blake Bortles, JAX ($5,600) There can be a huge difference between a player being good for fantasy and a really good player. Bortles is a prime example. He may not win games for the Jaguars, but he will win you cash on DraftKings. He has great weapons around him and the Ravens secondary has been terrible all season. Teams have been stepping up their game coming out of their bye, so that might give you pause to use him. But at $5,600, he definitely gives you some salary relief.

Running Backs

Mark Ingram, NO ($6,400) I was very disappointed in his performance last week, but you need to be able to wipe the slates clean of emotions after every Sunday. Ingram has another great matchup against the Redskins defense which has been suffering lately against the run. He catches passes out of the backfield and I’m almost positive will score this week.

Ryan Matthews, PHI ($3,500) Matthews does not have a high ceiling. He is a player I would never use in a GPP, but in a DraftKings cash game, I think he has a high enough floor to be an incredible value. He looks great even with low usage, averaging 6 YPC, and has scored a touchdown in half of the games he’s played in (if you count week 2 where he had one rush).

Wide Receivers

Demaryius Thomas, DEN ($7,400) If a team is playing the Chiefs, I want one of their wide receivers on my team. And with Emmanuel Sanders questionable for Sunday’s game with an ankle injury, Thomas is going to get a lot of work. This adds up to a huge fantasy day. I think this is as simple of a play as it gets. While I hate how Peyton Manning has been looking this year, and the foot makes it a little more concerning, he’s still going to have to throw.

Brandon LaFell ($4,100) As mentioned with Brady, the Giants game is going to be high scoring. Since coming back from injury, he’s gotten 8, 7, and 9 targets, been catching more consistently, and gaining more yards. A touchdown is coming with those targets, and against the Giants secondary, I’d be willing to bet he gets one this week. And at $4,100, you don’t need much more than a touchdown and some catches to score enough points for his value.

Tight Ends

Jordan Reed, WAS ($4,600) The logic is pretty simple to follow here. New Orleans Saints stink at defense. Kirk Cousins will throw a lot and succeed. Jordan Reed is Kirk Cousins favorite target. Reed will catch a lot of passes. I’m considering putting him at flex in my DraftKings cash game lineup

Richard Rodgers, GB ($3,000) Rodgers can be frustrating, as he’s only had four games where he hit his value, but he’s a great cheap play on a team that might be scoring a lot on Sunday (more on that in the next slide). James Jones is injured which takes away Rodgers favorite red zone target this year, giving Rodgers more opportunities.

Defense/Special Teams

Carolina Panthers ($3,300) Keep an eye out for Luke Kuechly’s injury, if he doesn’t play, I don’t like this play as much. But Marcus Mariota is not a seasoned veteran like he appeared during the Saints game last week. I think the Panthers are good enough to make Mariota make mistakes and capitalize on them.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($2,500) I don’t like many defenses this week, so I figured I might as well go with the team playing against Matt Cassel. He loves throwing pick sixes, so I just hope that’ll come true on Sunday.

Narrative Street Special:

Aaron Rodgers, GB ($7,500) and the rest of the Packers. Two tough games. Two tough losses. Now, the Packers are headed home to face the lowly Lions, and they will take out all of their frustration on the poor Lions secondary. This sounds great, and the Lions really do have a statistically terrible pass defense. But are you willing to pay up for Aaron Rodgers when he averages less points than many cheaper QBs? And are you going to bet on James Starks to grab the starting spot from Lacy, or hoping that Randall Cobb’s shoulder is fully healed? This narrative sounds great and looks like it could come to fruition, but don’t go putting all your eggs in this basket.
