Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been confirmed as active for this afternoon’s matchup against the Oakland Raiders.

Excellent news for the Vikings and their fans, as sophomore quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been declared active for an interesting match against the up-and-coming Raiders, according to NFL Analyst Ian Rapoport.

The second year signal-caller out of the University of Louisville suffered a concussion last Sunday against the St. Louis Rams after a cheap shot from Rams’ safety Lamarcus Joyner. You can see the video of this hit below:

As a result of this play, Bridgewater was knocked out of the game and Joyner was slapped with a $23K fine.

Bridgewater has started all eight games so far this season, with 149 completions and a 64.2 percent completion rate. He has thrown for 1,670 yards, with 7.2 yards per completion in addition to six touchdowns and six interceptions. Many of these completions have come courtesy of Rookie Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs, who is having himself an Odell Beckham Jr.-esque season so far. Expect the combination to continue lighting it up this afternoon against the Raiders relatively weak secondary.

Bridgewater will be facing Oakland Raiders Quarterback Derek Carr, another sophomore who is also having himself quite a season. Who says the sophomore Slump exists? Carr has thrown for a whopping 2,094 yards in eight games, with 174 completions and a 63.7 percent completion rate. He has thrown for 7.7 yards per completion and has 19 passing touchdowns compared to only four interceptions.

There is no doubt that it will be a compelling match up, as both teams are in prime position for a wildcard playoff spot. With a win and a Packers loss to the Lions however, the Minnesota Vikings can sit alone at the top of NFC North Standings… and who could’ve ever predicted that?
