Houston Astros

The Astros are in a great position to make a huge move to put them over the top. Their general manager has proven that he’s aggressive in trades if he believes that the trade will help his team win. Jose Fernandez is the kind of pitcher who could make the Astros legitimate World Series contenders.

The Astros rotation already features Dallas Keuchel, Collin McHugh, and Lance McCullers. The Astros have a deep enough prospect pool that they could easily trade for Jose Fernandez while not giving up any of those three guys. Fernandez would give the Astros one of the scariest rotations in all of baseball.

The Astros would also have the luxury of being able to keep an eye on Fernandez’s innings because Keuchel and McHugh can both be relied on to pitch 200 innings each. McCullers will likely be ready to pitch around 200 innings as well. Scott Feldman could give them 200 innings as well.

The Astros are likely going to do something huge this offseason. They are in a great position to trade for just about anyone with their deep farm system and talent. Should they choose to pursue a starting pitcher on the trade market, Jose Fernandez would be their best target by a significant margin.
