The AFC South is embarrassing. The kind of embarrassing that makes you wish the National Football League, or the federal government, would ban their games from television. If nothing else, think of the children.

Instead, these monsters are going to go ahead and put this thing on national television, with the Tennessee Titans visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field on Thursday Night Football.

TV: NFL Network
Time: 8:25 p.m. EST
Broadcasters: Jim Nantz, Phil Simms and Tracy Wolfson

Despite Jacksonville being only 3-6, it is somehow only a game out of first place in the division. The Jaguars beat the Baltimore Ravens on a last-second field goal last week, in an ending that the NFL has admitted should have given the game to Baltimore. Instead, the Ravens are sitting 2-7 and out of the playoff picture, while a win for the Jaguars would put them a half-game off the pace.

Tennessee is simply trying to end the season with some dignity. The Titans are already on their second head coach of the season in Mike Mularkey, who took over for Ken Whisenhunt midway through the campaign. It’s all about whether Marcus Mariota can get the job done as a franchise quarterback, with the early returns being promising.

This is the first meeting between these two teams, with the rematch coming in early December.
