Kevin Martin never even saw Victor Oladipo coming

The Orlando Magic have been incredibly feisty to start the 2015-16 NBA season, even fighting hard in most of their losses on the year. One of the big reasons for that is the fact that their young guys like Victor Oladipo and Elfrid Payton continuously play with a ton of energy and never give up on any play. That didn’t change on Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Wolves guard Kevin Martin thought he had gotten loose for a fast break. He thought that he could simply walk to the rim for an easy lay-up. That was a rookie mistake by the veteran because Oladipo was on the floor and charging hard. The Magic star caught up and absolutely destroyed Martin’s lay-up with a monster block:

Martin’s probably going to want to go at the rim with a little more authority regardless of who he’s playing, but especially when a guy who gives the effort that Oladipo does is on the floor. That’s how you end up on the wrong end of a highlight.

Oladipo continues to impress for Orlando this season as he’s taken major strides forward this year and has shown sides of becoming a real leader for this team. With his progression along with the rest of a young, talented Magic team, it won’t be long before they are making serious noise in the Eastern Conference and possibly even the entire league.
