Boston College to wear Doug Flutie throwback uniforms on Saturday

Boston College has a huge game at Fenway Park on Saturday against Notre Dame, and they will wear Doug Flutie throwback uniforms for the game.
Doug Flutie is one of the most decorated football players of all time. Not only did Flutie have “Flutie-Flakes” sold in grocery stores in the Orchard Park, New York area when he was playing for the Buffalo Bills in the NFL, he won several legitimate awards, especially in his college days. Flutie had an interesting pro football career, bouncing around from the NFL to the CFL, and from team to team within the NFL. But before that pro career got started, he got his name out there in the NCAA with Boston College.
This weekend, Boston College has a huge game against Notre Dame that is being played at the historic Fenway Park, which is home to the Boston Red Sox. The game will have a throwback vibe to it with the green monster towering over the field, and the jerseys that Boston College wears will also be a tribute to Flutie and embrace the throwback feel of the game even more.
These Under Armour Flashback jerseys are pretty nice, and it’s cool to see Flutie suit up in one of BC’s uniforms again. His number 22 has been retired by the school as a tribute to all that he did as their quarterback.
Flutie, in his time with Boston, won several awards, including a Heisman trophy in 1984, and also won player of the year honors from four different places that year.
Flutie is recognized for making Boston more reputable than before and had the “Flutie effect” named after him. This effect is one that recognizes that sports team success makes a school more appealing, and draws in more applications.
Flutie has had a rough week, as both of his parents died on the same day on Wednesday from two separate heart attacks. Hopefully, the Boston College game can lift his spirits.
