NFL Week 11 awards: Jameis Winston, Doug Martin shine for Tampa Bay
By Brad Rowland
Week 11 Most Valuable Player
Carson Palmer, QB Arizona Cardinals
The first quarter was a nightmare for Carson Palmer on Sunday night. The veteran signal-caller uncorked two interceptions within the first three drives for the Cardinals, and Arizona was fortunate to emerge from the first 15 minutes with a chance to win the game.
From there, though, Palmer was incredibly good.
AThe 35-year-old connected on four touchdown passes to lead his team to a 34-31 victory. And while the two interceptions serve as something of a blemish, his overall production against Cincinnati’s top-10 defense was impressive. Palmer threw for 317 yards while averaging more than 10 yards per attempt, and the Cardinals needed every bit of his production while holding off the Bengals to improve to a stellar 8-2 record.
While Palmer falls short of players like Tom Brady and Cam Newton in the race for a season-long MVP nod, his health and overall play have stood out in an immense way for the Cardinals. On Sunday evening, he faced real adversity in the opening minutes, but by the end of the night, Carson Palmer emerged as the Week 11 MVP in style with a win over his former team.
Runner-up: Cam Newton, QB Carolina Panthers
